Season's Greetings Fourth grade families,We hope you had a restful Fall break and a successful week back. Our countdown for winter break begins now! There are lots of exciting things happening before then so please take a moment to review our newsletter to stay current with all our important learning and assignments coming up! I-ready Diagnostic: Big thanks to all the students who attended the I-ready diagnostic sessions this week and completed their I-ready diagnostic. This new platform will help to guide and inform us on your student's growth and progress this year. For those who were unable to attend or complete their I-Ready Diagnostic Make up sessions will be held on Thursday Dec 7th. These make-up sessions will be added to the student plans soon. I-Ready Weekly Expectations: Now that students have completed the diagnostic students will be using the I-ready platform for instructional purposes. i-Ready is an online program that will personalize their learning and monitor their progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows us to meet your child where they are and provides us with data to inform instruction. Students will be expected to complete 45 minutes of ELA instruction each week on I-ready. Information on how to login to I-ready and track their weekly minutes can be found in the graphics below. Titanic Informational Essay due November 27th- Our second informational essay of the year is complete! If your student has not submitted their Titanic essay, please make sure to have them turn it in. There is a checklist on the bottom of the newsletter that can be used to make sure your student has all the parts of their essay completed. Students should have typed up their essay in a Word Document and saved the file on their computer. Directions on how to submit the file on the OLS are in the graphic below. ***There is NO flipGrid to turn in for this essay Snowflake Narrative Essay due December 8th- This week we began to learn about Narrative writing, it's such a fun and creative form of writing! We will be finishing up our snowflake stories next week. Resources for this writing prompt can be found in the "Weekly Printouts" tab of our website. Students will be expected to type up their essay and turn it in through the OLS File Share. Directions of how to turn in their essays can be found in the graphic below. We can't wait to read about your snowflake's adventures! Countdown to Success! Let's get those grades up before Winter Break so we can start the 2024 school year right! ! Students with 60% or below in ELA or Math, this is your opportunity to catch up . Your homeroom teacher will be sending you information on the assignments and lessons that you should focus on to bring your grades up before winter break starts. (Winter break begins on 12/22) ***Remember you can find your students overdue and "Not Mastered" lesson in the "Courses" Tab of your OLS. Middle of Year DRA's Middle of year DRA's will be scheduled from December 18-December 21. Some live Class Connects will be cancelled this week, student paced Nearpod lessons with voice overs will be added to student plans in lieu of live Class Connects.
