Happy Spring Break fourth Grade Families Thank you for your another exceptional week of learning in fourth grade! Spring Break is now upon us! We hope you and your loved ones have fun, relax, and enjoy your break. Before you sign off for your vacation please browse through our newsletter to stay fully informed of all the important events and assignments coming up! Spring Break: Spring break is from March 18-22. Students will not have any assignments or class connects next week. This is a wonderful opportunity to bring any grades up by catching up on overdue assignments and "Not Mastered" quizzes. Assignments and lessons will resume on March 25th. Reregistration for 2024-2025 school year: Your story continues with DAOF! Re-registration is now open for the 2024-2025 school year. Save your spot for next year by re-registering your student today! Please see the graphic below for more info. Writing Assignment-Cellphones Argumentative Essay: This week in Writer's Workshop we concluded our cellphones essay. Students should now be typing, editing, and revising their essay to prepare for submission. We have included a checklist for Argumentative essays. We encourage students and learning coaches to use this checklist to ensure their essay includes all the important parts of an argumentative essay. (See below) FAST Writing Testing Window: The FAST Writing testing will be occurring April 1-12. Students are expected to attend their testing site in person to complete this assessment. You should have received an email from Testing Nirvana with the students location date and time of the test. Please make sure to confirm your students testing site, date, and time for this assessment as it is a requirement to remain enrolled at DAOF. If you need assistance locating this information please reach out to your student's homeroom teacher. Additional Resources for FAST: We are also happy to share there is a new tab on our fourth grade website "FAST Additional Resources". We have shared supplementary prompt resources for writing practice as we are preparing for the writing assessment in April. Make sure to check this page weekly for additional resources. We will also be sharing videos on our newsletter that will include insight to the types of questions students will be encountering in the FAST test along with tips to prepare for the test. We ask that learning coaches take advantage of this resource and please watch these videos each week to be well-informed about the FAST test. Salutations Fourth Grade Families,Spring into March with fresh opportunities and exciting updates! First of all we would like to thank our learning coaches and students for your continued support as your fourth-grade teachers were assisting with administering in-person testing this week. Weekly I-ready minutes: As we prepare for in-person testing it is important to utilize all of the resources available to ensure student's success on state testing. I-ready is a great resource to support student's learning growth and prepare students for FAST Reading PM 3. Please make it a habit to check your student's minutes on their I-ready account on the "My progress" tab. Here are some more helpful tips: make it a part of your students weekly checklist or discuss with your student not marking the assignment complete on OLS until they have completed at least 45 minutes so it does not disappear from their plan. Parent University! We are elated to share with you a marvelous opportunity for Learning Coaches to learn more about the upcoming FAST. These sessions will provide you with some test-taking strategies and tips to prepare your student for FAST PM3. DAOF will be hosting these sessions on Thursday March 7th and 14th at 3:00 pm ET in the DAOF zoom room. Each session will focus on a different topic, so don't miss out. Please read the graphic below for more information. Have you confirmed your student's test site yet? Emails have been sent out with directions on how to confirm your student's test site for in-person testing. Make sure you login to Testing Nirvana to confirm the test site. Once you have confirmed their test site keep an eye out for any emails from the sender TESTING NIRVANA, these emails will be coming soon and will have directions to confirm the date and time your student will need to come in for testing.
